New Shoot -Concept Shot

image

Scraping together some ideas for a shoot. This is a concept shot for a shoot with an old Ford that’s been in the family for years. Rather than moving it out if the shed, I figure I’ll just shoot it in there. Very rustic like. This shot was taken with my phone and is just to give an idea of the feel I’m thinking of.

Looking for side work

Just giving everyone a heads up. I’m looking to make a little side money with the holidays coming up. If anyone has a potential photo gig they want me to work, feel free to email me with the details.

I haven’t been as lazy as I look

While I haven’t been shooting many models lately, I’ve been keeping myself somewhat in practice by doing other photography related projects. Aside from the stringer gig with the newspaper, I did a little bit of real estate photography for some friends who are looking to sell their house. Admittedly, I’m pretty new at the whole interior/exterior photography thing, but with help from a friend I don’t think they turned out too bad. Here’s a few of the shots we got. I hope it helps the house sell!

Stunned Photography leaves me stunned

Update: This person’s profile has since been removed from MM. Good riddance.

“Stunned Photography” on Model Mayhem (#1953820) stunned myself and a few others today when we found out that she’s been using our photos in her portfolio! Apparently my photo has been in her profile since November of 2010. Not only was she too lazy to take her own photographs, but she didn’t even bother to remove my logo. Granted, I’m glad she didn’t, but… wow.

After being called on it by several people, including myself, she logged in and removed the photos. I will keep an eye on this profile in the future, and may even contact MM to log her I.P. in case she tries to create a new profile and do the same thing to someone else.

To Stunned Photography, should you happen to read this,

Not only are your actions illegal, but they are detrimental to the photography industry. It’s hard enough to get work as a model photographer, but when you are misrepresenting yourself to clients and models alike, you are damaging what little respect we do get. One brush with a shady photographer can be enough for some to turn away from us as a whole, or force restrictions upon us because of their previous experience. I can only hope that you learn a lesson from this, though I doubt it. If you had any portion of a brain you wouldn’t have pulled this stunt in the first place.

That is all.

New Project in the works

Ok, so the trigger finger is getting a little itchy.

I think it’s time to shoot once again, but this time I’m going to get my idea and everything planned first, before I set a date and get a model. Somehow, it just works better when you already have the idea and location in mind. Go figure.

Anyways, I already have one model I owe a shoot, but if I can get something together worth a full day of shooting, obviously there’s going to be more than one involved. So keep checking the blog here, pretty soon I will have a description of the shoot and maybe I will be seeing you in the near future!

Will be doing fewer shoots from now on.

I’ve decided that instead of retiring from photography, i will limit myself to fewer shoots. Mainly, whenever i get the urge, or get a cool idea. No more shooting for the sake of shooting.

Location Sneak Peek…

Usually I do a sneak peek of a model I’ve recently shot, but this time around I’m going to do something a bit different. The shoot has not yet taken place, but I have scouted the location, and took a few pics with my phone. Needless to say I’m very excited about what I have to work with, and the shots are so clear in my head I wish I could just hit a “print” button on the end of my nose and spit them out of my mouth! Click on the thumbs below to see what I’m talking about.

These shots are a small glimpse of what the property has to offer. I have full permission to use this property, and I guarantee I’m going to take full advantage of the opportunity. If I can’t squeeze it all into one shoot, then I’ll have another one. Now to find a model that doesn’t mind getting a little dusty!

New Year’s Resolution

Well 2010 is almost over, and I’m left with a slew of great photos for my portfolio. The shoots I’ve done have been awesome, the ladies I’ve worked with have rocked, and my port has grown dramatically over 2009. So now I’m making the following New Year’s Resolution, to take my port even higher!

I am promising to myself that I will have at least one shoot per month. I know that may sound like slim pickings to some photographers, but this being my part time thing, I think it’s a reasonable goal. Besides, at the end of the year I’d rather have 12 mindblowing shoots under my belt than 24 mediocre ones. Wouldn’t you agree?

It’s going to be a challenge this year. The majority of the shoots in 2010 took place in a studio I don’t have anymore. I’m homeless as a photographer, so it won’t be without it’s speedbumps. But I see it done all the time, so I’m not making it an excuse.

So here’s to 2011, I’m hoping to start it off with a bang!
